One of the NHL's more underrated players is getting more attention from fantasy hockey fans. While he may not be an obvious choice for your lineup, he is a reliable contributor. In any league, he's a top-10 pick if you need a scoring threat.
With a talented player like William Karlsson, you can't go wrong. The veteran still earns line money and is a good buy-low option. Vasili Podkolzin, a KHL import, is another good option. His plus-minus is excellent, making him a viable option if you are short on wingers. Defenseman Jesse Puljujarvi is another notable waiver claim. He's a good pickup in the league with a deep D-corps. He could fit in nicely on the first line as a mini-Tom Wilson. He's currently a road grader for Matthews and Marner, but if he can keep that role, he can provide significant fantasy upside. Forward Carl Soderberg of the Boston Bruins is another good waiver wire pickup. He's available in roughly two-thirds of ESPN leagues and provides a consistent source of shots and points. He had a strong first half of the season and has three goals in his last six games. He's also getting more power-play time than many owners realize, so he should keep getting more chances to score points. The fantasy hockey top 10 waiver wire picks in late March include a variety of players who may be overlooked or cut. However, the majority of these players have higher ceilings than their counterparts. Along with Alex Iafallo, Matt Boldy is a great player to keep an eye out for on the waiver wire. He, like Alex Iafallo, has the potential to change the course of your team's season. He might even be a contender for the Calder Trophy. If you need defensemen, a wide range of players is available on the waiver wire. The Blues have a strong depth chart with players like Justin Faulk and Alex Iafallo on the roster. While their numbers haven't been stellar this season, they are viable options for those looking for more depth on the blue line. While neither rookie is known for his scoring ability, they both have solid upside as mid-tier players and can contribute in the defenseman and goal-scoring categories. Jared McCann is another good value pick. Last season, he played in the NCAA, AHL, and NHL as the Colorado Avalanche's top forward prospect. His speed and puckhandling abilities make him a viable late-season or early-season waiver add. The Flames of Calgary Mikael Backlund has been disappointing in the past but has recently improved. Despite a lack of offense, the second-line center sees action on the second power-play unit. He usually takes two or three shots and hits a few times. Despite his inconsistency, he's now a solid bench player with a favorable schedule in Los Angeles, Arizona, and Edmonton.
